LEAF's 2011 VOLUNTEER EXTRAORDINAIRE! GIVING of SELF, SPIRIT & TALENT! Local designer Stephen Beili traveled to LEAF International Rwanda program to VOLUNTEER for 3 months in Kigali helping bring new energy and architectural inspirations to Intore Culture & Music Center! He has also created a Spread the Love Scholarship program to complement the LEAF Intore Troupes life opportunities.

His Goals:
~assess the project's viability
~find local architect/builder
~establish a precise budget & systems
Today, 18 young men live in a home that LEAF arranged, practice indigenous drumming and dancing weekly, and perform as the LEAF Intore Cultural Troupe.  LEAF International has teamed up with Playing for Change Foundation  and Ivuka Arts to build Intore Culture & Music Center where these young men will continue to learn and then teach other street orphans the discipline, self-respect, and chance for expression and income that can come through music.

"..when i look back and see photos of the men, i remember their lives over there and how they touched mine and how i hopefully showed them some respect that they haven't always gotten and maybe that will be a seed to new confidence for them.  you started something really powerful in their lives."

Stephen has been a member since June 2010. His inspiration for this trip was from the Member's party at last LEAF when he learned that 70% of Rwanda's population was under the age of 30.
