    GREEN TIPS AT HOME!
  • Do a full load of laundry and set the water temperature to cold. About 90% of the energy used for washing clothes is for heating the water.

  • Did you know close to 95% of the water we use goes down the drain?

  • If you… Fix leaky faucets and plumbing joints, you’ll save 20 gallons per day for every leak fixed.

  • If you…Shorten your showers, even by a minute or two, you’ll save up to 700 gallons per month.

  • If you…Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, you’ll save up to 3 gallons each day

  • Follow the 3 R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Over 100 billion plastic bags are used in the US annually with 1% recycled. Paper bag production generates 70% more air pollutants and 50% more water pollutants than plastic bags. Bring your own re-usable bag, basket or box the next time you shop.

  • Use Compact Fluorescent light bulbs. They use 75-85% less energy that incandescent bulbs. This means that for every CFL bulb you use, you’ll be helping to prevent approximately 600 pounds of harmful emissions from entering the environment

  • Shop local and in-season to reduce reliance on food items that have to be transported over long distances.
